The word computer comes from the Greek word compute. The word compute means to calculate. The word computer means calculator. Originally it was made for calculations. But now it is being used for many other purposes besides complex and difficult calculations. The speed of computer work is calculated in nanoseconds. The nanosecond is a fraction of a billionth of a second. It performs all its functions through electronic flow.
